Host Information

Why become a Homestay Host:

Sharing your home with an international student can be a very fulfilling experience.

Students are excited to be a part of your family and experience an Australian lifestyle. Staying with a host family can help students adjust to living in a new county. It is an excellent opportunity for them to practice their English skills in a relaxed and supportive environment. Hosts can have a big impact on students’ lives and studies.

Students also enjoy sharing their culture, foods and traditions with hosts. As a host you will always be learning something new.

Many hosts and students form close bonds and lifelong connections. Often hosts and students stay in touch long after the student has returned home.

Types of students:

SAS receives enquiries for both individual students and tour groups. Individual students will always require a single room and they may stay anytime from 2 weeks up to a couple of years depending on their age and the course they are studying. Tour groups may request single or twin share rooms and they may be a short as few nights or over 20 weeks, again this depends on what the group is doing.

Students can range in age from 13-25 years old or more.

Of course you can choose what gender, age and length of stay you prefer.

Payments:

All payments are made by SAS, there is no need to handle money directly with students. We pay directly into your bank account on a fortnightly basis. Our payment days are Tuesday and Friday.

The rate varies from $350 to $400 per week depending on the students age and the meal structure they have requested. You will be notified of this information when the student is offered to you.
