Homestay is where students live in the private home of an approved homestay family. The student has a private bedroom, but other facilities such as the kitchen and bathroom are shared with the host family.
Yes, food is included. You can choose from 3 meals per day, or 2 meals per day.
The weekly rate ranges from $375 to $410 depending on your age and what meal plan you choose.
You will be sent a regular invoice during your stay. You can pay online with card or by bank transfer.
Students will usually need to travel up to 50 minutes on public transport form their homestay to their school.
If you are under 18 years of age you will have a curfew set by your school. If you are over 18 years you will not have a set curfew however you should stay in touch with your host and let them know if you are returning late.
You are expected to keep your bedroom clean, and to clean up after yourself in shared areas such as the kitchen and bathroom.
Some hosts prefer to do all the washing and drying, others prefer students do their own washing. Your host will discuss this with you when you arrive and explain what to do.
Shower time should be kept to a minimum. Different homestays may have different rules on shower times.
You need to ask your hosts permission before inviting friends over.
Yes, however you should speak to you host first and arrange a suitable time with them.
No, parents cannot stay in homestay. They will need to make their own accommodation arrangements.
You will need to pack the basics such as clothes, footwear, phone, laptop, charger, and toiletries/personal items such as toothpaste, body wash, shampoo and conditioner, hair dryer.
