Melbourne is set around the shores of Port Philip Bay. The city itself, laid out in a large rectangle and boasting a lively cosmopolitan pulse, sits on the northern banks of the Yarra River, about five kilometers from the bay.

Climate:
The weather in Melbourne is pleasant and mild with four distinct seasons: Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring. The climate can vary greatly from day to day. The average temperatures for each season are as follows:
